Windows 10: "System Settings" and "Display Preferences" crash and close when I attempt to open them -no...

If I press the Settings button and then select "System" the Settings window either lags for a few seconds and then closes without getting to System, or just instantly closes. When I right-click the desktop and select "Display Preferences" the settings window tries to open, then immediately closes.


I have run a lot of online commands related to sfc, copy-pasted Powershell commands, a full reinstall over my existing copy of Windows, created a separate admin-level account on this same Windows just to confirm this same issue happens there, and I cannot conceive how this issue is so heavily embedded in Windows. I am on the latest version of Windows Home.


It is my opinion Windows needs an update that fixes this bug as it appears to on all counts be a bug.


I am open to reasonable solutions, excluding removing my copy of Windows and all its programs/files.


Any thoughts or ideas, Microsofties? Please have someone at Microsoft create a patch for this issue, in the event this is as broken as I believe it is.

Windows Settings -- System -- Display crashes

Problem in Subject line above. Windows Settings opens OK and all other selections work except for System -- Display. When I click on that item, Settings crashes. Display is the first item on the System list, so when it tries to open it, down it goes.

If I right-click on Windows Start then choose System, it opens the System window to the About section, but when I click on Display, it crashes. All other items except Display work OK.

If I right-click on the desktop and choose "Display Settings" it starts to open the Settings window then it crashes, so no luck there.

Windows 10 - 1903 fully up to date as of today's date. I believe this problem started after I did the 1903 update a few months ago.

Is there another way to get to the "Display" settings?

What happens?
If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
What X1800XT model do you own exactly?

 

System Settings Closes Immediately After Opening

Hello! I'm dealing with a frustrating problem - my two monitors are displaying what the other should (left monitor displays right, right monitor displays left), but I can't switch them around in display settings as I have in the past! Right clicking on my
desktop, and then clicking "display settings" or going to "System" under the Windows Settings menu will result in the page opening for a few seconds at most, and then closing. Here is a list of everything I've tried doing the following to fix the issue:

• Updating Windows
• Trying the first solution here: Display settings.

• Multiple system file checks.
• I even got to the point of performing a repair upgrade with an ISO file, but I can't even do that! The Media Creation tool says my Windows 10 Pro N (version 10.0.18363) "PC cannot be upgraded to Windows 10" Update: performed system repair successfully,
  it did not fix the issue.
• Update: Uninstalled display driver, did not work.

It seems like I've come across someone with the same problem here: Display settings don't work,
but I hope I've given enough information so that it can be resolved here at least.
