Windows 10: System Storage shows over 4gb of temp files?

I went in System Storage to Delete Temp Files. On the page where it shows App & features, and Temp Files. It has 4.61 gb temporary files.



When I open temporary files it only shows 1.19 mb with 37.9 mb updates (windows updates doesn't have any updates to install)



Steps done:



* Dism Scan

* SFC/Scan

* restarted computer

* emptied %temp%, temp, software distribution, prefetch

* Run disk cleanup

* checked system restore



Nothing near the 4gb shows up. Nor do any problems occur in any of this.



Browsing around the two big folders seem to be WinSxs and MicrosoftOffice as both are several gb.

Have already tried dism /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup as well.

I don't have a lot installed and I haven't done any big update or anything like that recently.



Any ideas on the next step?

temp files

Hi i have Lumia 520 i have a problem in deleting temp files.when i go to phone storage and check it is showing 2.31gb of data in temp files if i try to delete that it is displaying message that deleting temp files but data is still there.please suggest
me solution.

 

Windows 10 jump lists showing temp files

Thanks for the reply. I did what you have suggested. But the thing is jump
list items are shortcuts to the files and/or folders not the files and/or folders themselves. Now the %temp%, temp and prefetch folders are empty but the links to jump-list still remains. So now when I click on them, it shows me this.



Can you suggest something else?

Temp Files : Runaway Creation

Windows Temporary files are created by the operating system during the normal course of its running when there may not be enough memory allocated for the task.

I suggest you to follow the steps below to delete temporary files nad check if it helps:

Step 1

• Press Windows key + R
• Type temp and click OK
• Press Ctrl + A and click Delete

Step 2

• Press Windows key + R
• Type %temp% and click OK
• Press Ctrl + A and click Delete

Step 3

• Press Windows key + R
• Type prefetch and click OK
• Press Ctrl + A and click Delete
