    Hi everyone,My laptop was running fine for a few months but recently I noticed it sometimes frame drops down to 0 while I'm playing game or even doing light task. At first it was quite rare and only happens for a sec or 2 but so I didn't think much of it, but now it happen quite often and for longer period of time maybe 5s or so so I looked into task manager and see what's going on when that's happening and found system is hogging 100% of the disk usage, altho in term of MB/s it never went over 100 my SSD should be capable of 400 or 500 MB/s. My SSD still has 30GB of free space.Here's my s

    My computer freezes and my task manager shows 100% disk usage. I turned off superfetch, updated all my drivers, and screamed at my computer multiple times without results.

    Thank you for the reply,but your suggestion proved no use to me still the disk usage remains 100 percent and my system lags in performance.

    100% Disk Usage - System Freezing

    Hi @kevvyb

    Your problem could be Disk Usage Spikes/ Lockups.

    Here are a few things that might fix your issue:
    1. Reinstall the SATA AHCI driver
    2. Stop Windows Search
    3. Disable the BITS, Superfetch, and Windows Search services
    4. Check your antivirus -Your antivirus can be demanding on your resources and that can cause issues to appear.
    5. Make sure that your system is up to date
    6. Switch to High Performance mode
    7. Reset the virtual memory
    8. Try a different drive, your hdd could be dying.
