  1. System time synchronized with the hardware clock.

Hi. From the last 2 months, we are facing below issue on our Windows 2016 server every 10 days. Server time is going back by 1 hour with the below message in eventvwr. The system time has changed to ‎2023‎-‎12‎-‎27T07:34:29.500000000Z from ‎2023‎-‎12‎-‎27T08:34:38.153992100Z. Change Reason: System time synchronized with the hardware clock. It is again getting corrected after 2 hours with the below message in eventvwr. The system time has changed to ‎2023‎-‎12‎-‎27T09:34:29.500000000Z from ‎2023‎-‎12‎-‎27T08:34:29.508436400Z. Change Reason: System time synchronized with the hardware clock. B

Windows 8.1: "System time synchronized with the hardware clock."

Every so often my time on PC was resetted to 2 hours in the past. I checked my settings for synchronizing time with an Internet time server but as I knew, synchronization was turned off. So I started looking at other reasons and I found this entry in Event Viewer:

System time synchronized with the hardware clock. [IMG]

    It says:
I do not know why did Windows synchronizes time with my time in BIOS but it is wrong and I never requested it nor did I turn it on.

No. Funny thing is when I installed Windows 8.1 on some other computer which was connected to the internet and had synchronizing (with Microsoft's servers) enabled I noticed that it had clock also off by 2 hours, maybe synchronization was too late and "hardware clock synchronization" clock was still set.

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below:

    • What is the make and model number of your PC?
    • Which update was installed and what was the KB number of the installed update?
    • As said, you are not able to synchronize the clock, does that mean you are not able to change Internet Time Settings?
    • How is clock synchronizing affecting Kaspersky updates?
    • Do you see any error message when Kaspersky fails to update?
Please provide more information regarding the issue

Meanwhile, I would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below:

Method 1: Enable Windows Time services

    1. Press Windows + R key to open Run command
    2. Type services.msc in the Run box and click on OK
    3. Find Windows Time service
    4. Right click on it and select Start/ Restart
Method 2: Synchronize with an Internet time server

    1. Open Settings, navigate to Time & Language > Date & time, scroll down and click Additional date, time & regional settings under Related settings. This will open control panel for Clock and Region
    2. Click on Date and Time, go to Internet Time tab and click on Change settings
    3. On the Internet Time Settings dialog box, you can see the clock synchronization details
    4. In the same windows, make sure that Synchronize with an Internet time server is checked
Let us know how it goes, we would be glad to help you further

    We await your response
