Windows 10: System unresponsive during audit of user accounts in Credential Manager

I'm regularly experiencing performance issues whenever a series of Audit Success entries are generated in the Security log in Event Viewer. These all relate to "Microsoft Windows security auditing" & can now run for 3-4 minutes. During this time if I try typing there will be multi-second delays between key presses & the character showing & a high frequency of duplicates or skipped characters. I essentially can't continue typing while this happens.


The recent install of Microsoft Teams has added additional credentials into Credential Manager, which has increased the duration of these events but it definitely preceded the install of Teams.


What can I do to reduce the impact of this audit, or even disable it completely?

  How many user account do you have on your system?
  
• Are you able to log-in to the system?

Meanwhile, let’s try simple troubleshooting steps and check if this helps. I suggest you to remove the username from Credential Manager and check.

• 
  Type credential Manager on the Windows search bar and select Credential Manager.
  
• Now try removing the user name and password by clicking on the credential.

Task scheduler user account list includes user accounts that have already been deleted from the computer.

Thanks for providing the results of the troubleshooting steps we provided. Since the credentials are still showing up in task scheduler, we suggest that you follow the steps below to check the entries in the credential manager and delete the entries manually:

• Type the words Credential Manager in Cortana or the search box.
• From the list of results select Credential Manager
• From this screen, you can manage Web Credentials and
  Windows Credentials.

Once you have the screen open verify if any of the credentials you saw in task scheduler is present and manually delete them.

Managing Credentials with no password
