Windows 10: System update / upgrade

Hello,Allmost ready to do the win 10 upgrade, but still have some questions.The term "Keep personal files and apps", well, personal files like photos, video, music and some letters are stored on a separate partition (data).What I am concerned is the "apps", I know that the installed ones are in the 'program files' folder, will they be overwriten and have to reinstall them over their remains. Mainly what I'm afraid of, what happens to Office.Other programs have as portables, they are on the 'data' partition.And second, I leave to install updates after the upgrade to see what I got, first download and install the English so I know what I am doing, then use Macrium (if it was not ruined) to make first backup.
Do I have to be 'online' while runing the upgrade as I said I wait with updates later I would like to have your opinion about this.What version I'll have after the upgrade ?Answers will be appreciated.Thanks

Windows 7.1 system 64 versus system 32 upgrade

I have a windows 7.1 system 64, on the upgrade of windows 10 it tried to install a system 32. Now my system does not work. My computer will start up and open the icons, then after about 1 minute the screen goes blank. I can see my wifi working as well as
being able to control/alt/delete. I am unable to remove the windows 10 upgrade.

Can someone help as my laptop is not working.

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Forums.

Start by opening Settings – Click Start > Settings or type Settings in the search bar and click it or press Windows key + I

Click Update and Security

Click Recovery then click Get started under
Go back to Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 (depending on the previous version you running)

Here you can make selections why are going back to your previous version of Windows along with additional details or you can choose just one and click Next.

Of course you have to be online to do the upgrade, how else would you do it. (Not a question)

All your programs will carry over.

You will have the Creator`s Update.


Make an image BEFORE you upgrade.

Sorry, do not understand something:
I have the windows 10 upgrade iso file, made with the madia creation tool, why should I be online as I do not have any protection - antivirus uninstalled and right now only windows defender.
2. Do not understand "All your programs will carry over." - remain or overwritten and have to start
reinstalling them ?

You never said that, so then why did you ask ?

Your programs will carry over, meaning they`ll still be there, what don`t you understand ?

Why did you uninstall your AV ? All you have to do is disable it.


This is what happens when you have 3 threads going on about the same thing. *Confused

Well AVG will do that, it`s absolute garbage.

Windows Defender and Malwarebytes are all you need, end of story, that`s it.

Oh no, it`s AVG, they`ve come to take over the system, Run.......... or we`ll be assimilated !!!

Indeed it was AVG, lot of troubles untill managed to uninstall and remove all traces.
Now windows defender runs again and keep downloading recent 'ms windows malware removal tool'.

That only gets downloaded once a month.

Windows update downloads that, not Defender.
