    System update

    Hello,
First thanks to all who answered about the system update problem I have.
I am studying carefully all your answers and hope to start soon another attept to upgrade the system.
To start, made today an image backup with Macrium, of the system as it is now.
I attach here a screenshot of the system, is the highlited number the licence I have to enter ?
And yes, I am very impatient, first the not-ending time of downloading, I know there are many restarts when updating, but as long the screen is blue and the % of progres shows on screen I wait, but when on one restart screen becoms black, keyboard and mouse inoperative, even the HD light is not flashing (about half an hour) I think something is wrong, wait a little more and if nothing happens then have to get back my system, is there another
    option ?
Perhaps another try will make me to get rid of AVG antivirus and think about Avast free.
I am not familiar with Iso files, I want to burn it on a DVD disk, no option to boot from USB. First have to study a little. And by the way, installed Office is 2007.
To start I think to download the Iso file, and what about the media creation tool ?
Well, this is all for now, thanks for all the answers.
    Answers will be appreciated.
    Thanks

    :)

  2. Windows 10 destroyed my laptop

When I installed Windows 10 for the first time it was working fine for at least 3 days. Then that's when everything went wrong. My Start menu wouldn't open and my speakers kept making static sounds. So I went on Microsoft forums for a solution to get back
my start menu. What they told me was to use powershell and type this command

When I typed in the command I saw yellow letters and red letters. When it was done I couldn't open my App store. That's when I decided I was going to roll back to Windows 8.1.

When I was back in Windows 8.1 I had a lot of problems. Media player wasn't working and the apps that I downloaded from the app store would close after I opened them. I could only open the app store, but I couldn't play any games from the app store. I did
SFC/ scannow and it found some corrupted files. So then I typed another command in CMD

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

After that I ran SFC /scannow again and it said it didn't find any corrupted files. I restarted my computer and then tried opening Media player and app store games, but they wouldn't open.

What should I do? Is my laptop stuck like this forever?

Good. A system image is always a sensible way to protect yourself, it's the first thing I do before any upgrade or major system changes.

No, that's the Product ID, just another way of saying which version of Windows you have. You're thinking of the Product Key, but you don't need that either. You'll not be asked for it in an upgrade, even a clean install doesn't need it. You PC has a digital licence stored on Microsoft's activation servers and will activate without the need to enter a key.

An ISO is an image of a disk and can be burned to a DVD. However, for your upgrade you don't need to burn to a physical disk. You just need to see and be able to run the files it contains. The easiest way to do that is to mount it as a virtual disk.

The key words in that note are: "if ... you choose to do a clean install...". That entails wiping the disk clean and starting from scratch, so obviously you'd need the product keys (and the media) to reinstall Office. After Office 2010 the licencing model changed to one tied your Microsoft account.

If you choose to do an in-place upgrade however, all installed programs are kept as they are. You won't need the keys because you won't have to reinstall Office.
