  1. Systems With Group Policy Disallowing Updates Directly From Microsoft Updating from 1909 to...

Hello, recently I've been assigned a case by my organization to research as to why our systems have been updating from 1909 to 2004. We have excluded that it is a false positive from the software we use that reports Windows build versions for us. We have excluded that group policy has somehow come undone by confirming that the group policy is in place that should prevent this from happening These systems should only be receiving updates from intranet WSUS. We have considered the possibility of dual scan behavior and have eliminated that as a possibility as well. There is nothing relevant in any logs we have captured from these systems, either. I'm looking for guidance as to how this can happen. We cannot exclude the fact that even though the previous items have been checked that there may have been some break down of group policy somewhere bet that still begs the question as to how that could have occurred. Furthermore, I am neither the DA or have access to GPMC. I can only exist as as an advisor in that capacity.

    I appreciate any help rendered.

    :)

Step 2: Start the service and set it to automatic:

    • Press Windows Key + R on the keyboard and type
      services.msc
      , Services window gets opened.
