Windows 10: systemsettings.exe

This is a known fact: SystemSettings.exe running suspended in the background causes a 4-5 second delay in processing shortcut key combinations (CTR ALT 'letter or number') and it really slows down my workflow because I use a lot of these shortcuts.




That being said, this cropped up a few years ago and disabling the service superfetch fixed this problem for me for the past few years.


Now about a week ago SystemSettings.exe starting showing up in Task Manager as suspended running in the background, slowing down my workflow. Superfetch is deprecated so that's not the problem


I just did a fresh install of 10 on a Lenovo laptop, and there it is SystemSettings.exe running suspended in the background causing

me grief.



The only thing I have tried so far is disable all non Microsoft services to no avail.

NESHTA.A VIRUS REMOVED BUT .EXE NOT WORKING

It is possible that you .exe is not working due to corrupted system files or account. To assist you better, kindly answer the following questions:

• Does this happen with a specific application or with all of your application?
• Have you tried creating a new admin account to check if the issue also with new account or only with the current account?

USB drive will not run exes.

To assist you better, I would like to ask if you have installed any Antivirus in the Laptop.

I suggest you to run the program in compatibility mode by following the steps provided below and check if the issue persist.

• Right click on the “.exe” file of the program and select properties.
• Under Compatibility tab, check the option for “Run in Compatibility mode”.
• Select the Operating System from the drop down list.
• Click on Apply and OK.
