  1. Tablet Mode and Auto-rotate driving me insane

    Windows 10 Home

    Lenovo L390

Tablet Mode automatically enables when the laptop is on a specific part of my desk.

At first I thought the laptop's keyboard was faulty. Then Tablet Mode automatically enabled one day and I noticed the On-Screen Keyboard appearing on the taskbar. I experimented with this weird behaviour, lifting up my laptop from the desk and moving it around the desk. Eventually I learned that there is a Tablet Mode and there are settings to disable it.

    My 'Tablet mode' settings:

"When I sign in": "Use desktop mode"

"When this device automatically switches tablet mode on or off": "Don't ask me and don't switch"

Despite these settings the Tablet Mode still turns on if my laptop is at a specific location on my desk. I've tried moving my laptop centimeter by centimeter and eventually, at certain points on my desk, Tablet Mode enables. Is there a sensor or something on the bottom or side of the laptop doing this? The laptop seems to be entering tablet mode based on something physical rather than enabled via software.

How can I permanently disable 'Tablet Mode'? I don't need Tablet Mode. I always want to use my keyboard. On several occasions I've been stuck at the login screen on Windows wondering why the hell my laptop's keyboard isn't working.

Also, if my laptop is closer to the rear left corner of my desk an 'Autorotate is on' message displays which enables Tablet Mode. I can't disable autorotate or whatever it is because the 'Rotation Lock' option is greyed out for whatever pathetic reason.

Please for the love of God help me. I am sick of this tablet mode and there is no apparent way to nuke it from orbit.

EDIT: The tablet mode option in the Action Centre is disabled (i.e. Desktop Mode not Tablet Mode) when my laptop does the weird automatically-enable-tablet-mode-when-it's-at-a-specific-part-of-my-desk behaviour.

    Auto rotate and g force

Really needed to list more system specs and information on this issue. So this is assuming you have this and this is the issue.

Why does my screen not rotate?

The auto rotation lock feature is turned on by default in Windows 10. Use the following steps to turn off this feature.

    1. Place the tablet into Pad/Tablet mode.
    2. Click the Start

  3. tablet mode / autorate

    Hi Lucien,

Tablet mode makes Windows more intuitive and easier to use with touch on devices. To turn off the auto rotate feature, refer to these steps:

    • Put your device in Tablet mode.
    • Go to Settings > System > Display.
    • Look for Lock rotation of this display, then toggle it off.

Feel free to post back if you have further questions.

I dont have that option in settings. I go to settings and the display is in the sysyem folder and it doesn't have that option. This is a flexx11 that had win 8.1 did the upgrade about 5 weeks ago and everything was fine. Keyboard started messing up and cust support had me do a reset. During that time it installed a very different win 10 than the converted one. When using it for games it doesnt respond to turning either, figure it's connected. Thanks
