Windows 10: Tablet will not connect to wifi

Hello!I recently moved and set up internet with Verizon, the internet was very slow throughout the house and none of the troubleshooting worked, so I switched to optimum. I get faster internet throughout the house on some devices, but my tablet just won't connect to the wifi. A disabled text comes on under the wifi name instead of saying connected. The tech who did the installation implied that my device was old, which it is, I have had it for a few years, but up until that installation, I had no problems connecting to wifi. At that point, I still had the Verizon wifi in the house and tried to

To isolate the issue, please verify the following:

• What is the make and model of the tablet?
• Are you having the same issue when connecting to a different WiFi connection?
• Have you tried running the Network troubleshooter?

To run the Network troubleshooter, click the Start button, type
Network troubleshooter then select Identify and repair network problems. Follow the on-screen steps in the troubleshooter.

When will the wifi connectivity problems be solved?


OK, so the Windows 10 engineers bollixed up the wifi connectivity part of the operating system. Everybody knows that by now. It seems they are making some progress in resolving it. Now, instead of seeing "Secured, No Internet" on your list of wifi connections, you see "Connected, Secured" EXCEPT no webpages will load. So you really aren't connected. It does seem to be a step in the right direction. Does anybody know when they plan on a full and complete repair of this screw up of epic proportions?

 

Windows 10 not connecting to public wifi

Hi Craig,

Let me verify some information to help us sort out this issue regarding connecting to a public. Allow me to ask the following:

• Were you able to connect to your company's public wifi before?
• Can your tablet connect to a different public wifi?
• Is Airplane mode disabled on your tablet?

Before looking into the other settings, please make sure that the Airplane mode is turned off on your tablet, then try to reconnect. If you're able to connect to your company's wifi before, then I suggest that you forget the network from your tablet first
before you reconnect to it. Just navigate to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Manage known networks > select the company's wifi, then hit
Forget. Once done, reconnect to the network and see if it works. If not, reboot or restart your tablet and try again.

Please update this thread with the result so we can further check on it if the issue persists.
