Windows 10: TAP driver installation fails

Hi, I have a serious problem with my laptop. Based on my location, I'm always in need of a VPN and NordVPN would always serve me well. For some reasons I had to delete my nordvpn TAP adapter, but after trying to re-install it, it would always fail. I tried tons of things including:

Turning off my windows defender.

Deleting the other adapters.

re-installing the TAP-Windows device driver. (It Fails) (in admininstrator)

rebooting my laptop after each of these operations.

re-installing NordVPN. (The TAP Adapter wouldn't show up in network and sharing center but sometimes it will show up in device manager with a "faulty" sign)

Using NordVPN's TAP adaptor app . (Fails)





My Windows is up-to-date and I have no other major issues.

Please help I really need my VPN.

Can't Install tap driver

To better assist you with your concern, I'd like to know the following information:

• Confirm which build is currently installed on your device. To check, follow the steps below:

1. Press Windows key + R, then type in winver.
2. Click OK.

• What is the VPN client that you're using?
• Are you using any third-party antivirus? If yes, try to disable it and then install the TAP driver.

KB4025339 Fails Install 0x80070564

I am trying Eagle 51's suggestions now. Windows Update troubleshooter found a bunch of errors and fixed all but one.The update is trying to download KB4025339 again. I'll see what happens. At step one troubleshooter finishes with one error unresolved "Potential Windows Update Database Error Detected-Not Fixed". Windows update stalled at 0%.

At step 2 same troubleshooter error. The KB finished a new download failed to install.
Did step 3 KB has downloaded but fails to install.

If Eagle's suggestion doesn't work I'll try EdTittel's suggestion

Tried bothe Eagle & Ed 's suggestions - do not work. Anyone else?

I have noticed that the latest update for my nvidia drivers has failed to update. Wondering about that!

 

TAP driver is failing to install.

Hello, I'v been using Urban VPN for Windows for a long time until I had a problem or something like that and I had to uninstall it. After I reinstalled it and opened it it failed to connect many times and I kept deleting and reinstalling it until I finally
found out that the problem was that TAP driver is failing to install every single time, please help. Thanks.
