  1. Task bar and start menu not working for new user accounts


    I recently added user accounts for my family members. All were working fine yesterday. Today the Start menu and task bar will not finish loading in any of the new accounts. When hovering over the task bar, I just get a wait-cursor.


    The original user account works fine, but the new ones have become unusable overnight.

  2. Start button + task bar not working


    I got the same issue with taskbar and start menu. It just doesn't do anything when I click on taskbar icons, start etc.
    I tried the thing with PowerShell, but it didn't go through (a lot of red error codes) and it didn't even fix it temporarily like for you.
    I've tried to make another account (because I found it posted in this thread: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...5987147&auth=1 ) and the start menu, taskbar, calendar everything is working fine in there.
    This is the comment:
    I don't want to migrate to another account though. I guess I'll do a clean install of Windows 10 if nothing will be working..

    Please let us know What exactly happens when you try to access Start menu and Task bar.

    I understand your concern and will assist you to resolve this issue.

    I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

    Step1: End Task the Windows Explorer.


    • Open task manager (CRTL+SHIFT+ESC)

    • Right-click on windows explorer

    • End task (Note: don’t close Task manager)

    • Click on File > Run new task

    • Type explorer.exe and press enter

    • Your search bar should be functional again.

    Step 2: If Start button is not working then I suggest you to check for the latest updates.


    • Press Windows logo key +R, enter
      MS-settings:
      and then press OK. This opens Settings.

    • In Settings, go to Update & security >
      Windows Update, and then select Check for updates. Install any available updates and restart your PC if required.

    Step 3: Some problems can be fixed by signing out of your account and then signing back in. Press Ctrl + Alt+ Delete and select
    Sign out. Once you’ve signed out, sign back in to your account.
