Windows 10: Task Bar buttons not working/ type search not working

Hi there,When I have no apps running and I am just on my desktop, my taskbar calendar, WiFi, and sound drop-downs will not work. When an app is running, those dropdowns work fine. The same goes for type-to-search in the start menu.For example, Chrome is open now and I can use those dropdowns/type to search but if I close Chrome then those buttons are rendered useless.I have tried SFC, and DISM command to scan for corruptions but as soon as I open as administrator, they both close instantly as if they don't open at all. It's a simple thing but grows to be annoying over time. This is more concer

search does not work in task bar. DOES work in File Explorer

Task bar search does not work and I have tried all of the recommended steps. Had to recently reinstall Windows 10 64b (preserved personal data) and the search has not worked since.

Suggestions? Recommendations?

Windows 10 START and SEARCH buttons don't work

For some reason both my main Windows button and Search buttons don't work. Other buttons on the Task Bar work as usual. Right click on either button gives a white-on-black context menu. Anyone have a suggestion, please?

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

Step1: End Task the Windows Explorer.

• 
  Open task manager (CRTL+SHIFT+ESC)
  
• 
  Right-click on windows explorer
  
• 
  End task (Note: don’t close Task manager)
  
• 
  Click on File > Run new task
  
• 
  Type explorer.exe and press enter
  
• 
  Your search bar should be functional again.
  

Step 2: If Start button is not working then I suggest you to check for the latest updates.

• 
  Press Windows logo key +R, enter
  MS-settings: and then press OK. This opens Settings.
  
• 
  In Settings, go to Update & security >
  Windows Update, and then select Check for updates. Install any available updates and restart your PC if required.
  

Step 3: Some problems can be fixed by signing out of your account and then signing back in. Press Ctrl + Alt+ Delete and select
Sign out. Once you’ve signed out, sign back in to your account.
