Windows 10: task bar icons have disappeared from my desktop and I cannot get them back

My taskbar icons have disappeared from my desktop PC as of the 14 April update. I have never had this issue until now and many of the fixes I have found in the forums and online are not working. I also do not have my clock. I have restarted the windows explorer process several times and even tried uninstalling a security update based on an older fix I found. None of these have worked. I have absolutely no functionality in the task bar, can't even click in it or move it. I have also tried the taskbar settings to try and hide and unhide the taskbar, nothing.....This is very frustrating and

• what exactly when you try to stick the excel file to the taskbar?

If you are trying to pin the excel workbook to the taskbar.

Follow the steps below.

• 
  Click on the start menu, select the icon and right-click on the icon.
  
• 
  From the list, select pin it to taskbar or pin it to start.
  

Also, you can drag the icon from the desktop and drop on the task bar.
