Windows 10: Task bar issue: Cannot bring up multiple windows

Hi,


On the task bar, I have multiple icons for the File Explorer, Word and Excel. For example when I want to open up a Word doc, it pops up the document but as soon as I move the cursor to get to it, the document disappears. When I hover over the Word icon, the doc is there but I can't fully open it. The same scenario applies to any application I want to maximize.


If I try to work with two documents side by side, as soon as I click on one document, both disappear. Or if I'm trying to rename a document name, I right-click, select rename and the document again disappears. The document or the application doesn't stick or stay on the screen.


This issue started recently. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Cannot modify Task Bar settings

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if the issue persists.

• Right click on the Task Bar.
• Uncheck the option " Lock the Taskbar."

Clicking on application or in task bar doesn't bring it to the front- Windows 10

• What is the current build and version of your Windows 10? To check type in
  winver on the search bar and press Enter.
• Have you made any recent changes prior to this issue?

Meanwhile, we suggest that you reset your taskbar on the Task Manager. Kindly follow the steps below:

• Open Task Manager by right clicking the taskbar.
• Click More details at the bottom to expand the Task Manager window.
• Under the Processes tab, look for Windows Explorer.
• After selecting the Windows Explorer, click the Restart
  button at the bottom.
• It may take a few seconds and things like your taskbar and Start menu may disappear momentarily, but when it restarts, things should behave better. Exit the Task Manager window.

Method 1

• 
  Right click on the task Bar and select Task Manager.
  
• 
  Select Processes tab.
  
• 
  Choose windows explorer and right click on it.
  
• 
  Select end task
  
• 
  Click on file menu and select run new task.
  
• 
  Type explorer.exe
  
• 
  Click on ok.
  

Method 2

a) Press "Windows+R" key on the keyboard to open Run window.

b) In the Run window type "wsreset.exe" and then click ok it will clear all the cache in Windows store.
