Hello,I have a Intel Core i5-8400 CPU installed in my PC, and I never really had any problems with it. Recently I've been doing a lot of CPU heavy tasks, and decided to check whether I can gain some performance here and there. While I was doing that, I realised that the number of cores Task Manager was showing was 4, yet my CPU has 6. For a second I thought that I forgot to set it to 6 in MSBoot. When I launched MSBoot, I saw that the maximum number of cores I can select was 4. I knew that something was not right, so I googled a little bit, and none of the "fixes" I found did anything. I tried

wrong CPU cores in Task Manager

i upgraded my CPU from i7-7820x 8core/16Threads to i9 14cores/28threads, the Bios shows all 14cores, Device manager shows all 28threads, in the task manager the model of the processor is correct, but still shows 8cores/16threads, i have reboothed the cpu
twice, still shows the old processor values

  3. Wrong CPU cores display in Task Manager

    Hi All,

Hope you guys are doing good. there is a strange problem with my windows 10, that i can not see correct core information and i assume therefore my Windows is running slow.

My Device manager shows total 16 cores in CPU section, however in Task manager i only see 4 vCPUs.

I tried almost every solution but still no luck.

    - I Tried msconfig and increase the CPU Cores but it didn't help even after restart.

    - I updated Windows , still no luck.

Any help will be highly appreciated.
