Windows 10: Task Manager breaks custom theme

Hi, I'm on Windows 10 Anniversary Update 1607

I'm using the Windows 10 Dark Edition custom theme after patching Windows using UltraUXThemePatcher 3.1.9

Everything works as it should until I open the Task Manager which breaks certain themed elements. This is fixed by re-applying the theme.

Is there a fix?

N900 Font enlarging?

That's not a simple as you'd think.. not all apps allow for font sizes..



Some things can be enlarged using the volume controls.. email messages for example. Making the font larger in some places would break the layout..



If it can be control anywhere, I imagine it is in the theme.. you might need to custom modify a theme to get it working.. but I don't imagine it is easy





Strangely, I remember using custom themes on the 770, N800 and N810 to reduce the font size to fit more on the screen..

 

Desktop Theme is deleted but KEEPS COMING BACK and becomes default THEME!

Did you download the theme, and possibly also a theme manager to load the theme. While you uninstalled the Theme, the theme manager is probably on your startup and is re-loading the theme

Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager, click on the Startup Tab and see if a theme manager is in the list, if it is, select it and click Disable

If it is not found in Task Manager, close it and press Windows + R keys together to open the Run Dialog. type msconfig and hit enter on the Run Dialog

On the System Configuration Dialog select the Services Tab, check the box marked 'Hide All Microsoft Services' and search the list for a Theme Manager, if you find it, uncheck it, click OK and Reboot

Make sure your patching is done properly,
Check with the author of the theme for an update; many snapins and applets that worked fine on Build 10586 got messed up on the AU until there was an update available.

 

It's not the patching.
By default whenever you apply a custom theme under certain circumstances Windows 10 wants to return to it's default colors, normally when your system comes out of sleep or hibernation.

Run the attached reg file, it should fix your problem.

 

Yes, I can confirm that, using "UxStyle_0242_x86_x64_preview", the theme breaks after sleep or hibernation.
The theme also breaks, when starting taskmanager.
But there must be some other apps, which cause this too, because some times, the theme breaks while the machine is just running, (without starting the taskmanager).

Correction: it works half.
Title bar colour is still changed to "blue" and an "unsaved theme" is created, when starting task-manager.
This sucks, and after some googling, it seems, this problem exists since Windows 7.

 

I'm using my personal visual style which is dark and full glass since 1511 to last anniversary build 14393.726 and have no issue when opening task manager task manager . That said , I don't use sleeping mode nor hibernation.

I would think your issue may come from the visual style itself so you coould test another one and see if the issue remains?

I patched my files with UXstyle preview on 64 bits OS.

 

It's probably because I've patched the theme...
I've changed one colour "themewide" with Windows Style Builder (latest) and I assume, this messed up the .msstyle file somehow.
The original theme works ok so far.
Will check that again.
EDIT: happened again...

 

I'd just like to jump in and say a big thank you. I've been trying to lick this problem for almost a year and because it's so obscure so non-mainstream, I didn't even know how to phrase the question.

This was the cherry on top that solved my QTTabBar explorer theme in Windows 10 from breaking after resuming from sleep or hibernate.

Now I can use my (multiboot) OS's hibernate functions like they were meant to be and not constantly have to shut everything down to reboot to fix a painfully-ugly explorer window that reverted back to white when I have a dark theme installed. It's actually kind of blinding at night.
