Windows 10: Task manager gets more inaccurate over time and doesn't always show all open programs

As the title says. Say I have task manager open for 2 hours. At this point in time, all of the resource usage levels are wrong. If it says MS Edge is using 1.08GB of RAM, I can restart Task Manager and the value will now show 800MB - which one is correct? One of them must be wrong. A discrepancy of that magnitude is fairly substantial.

It also seems to struggle to even keep track of which programs I have open. If it was open for another 2 hours or so, I could open Outlook or Skype or some of the Adobe suite, for example, and despite these programs being in active use, task manager doesn't even show them under the 'Apps' section. I'll need to restart it for it to an accurate list of things running to be given.

Any ideas?

Task Manager inaccurate?

I'm currently troubleshooting a Win10 laptop with an extremely slow startup and using Task Manger to see what's using the resources.
Now according to Task Manager/Processes the disk is running at 99% but in the list there's less than 3Mb in use!
So how is it giving me useful results, is it simply inaccurate or am I misunderstanding it's function?

 

Task Manager inaccurate?

Th disk usage in Processes is a bit misleading. It's the Mb/s per time interval, which is default 1 second. It's not cumulative. Process Monitor would be a better choice, highlighting CPU and DISK so you can see them both at the same time.

Process Monitor is at the bottom of the Performance tab.

 

Windows doesn`t start. Authomatic repair doesn`t work.

I`m sorry I had not noticed that the text on the picture was in spanish. It says that windows has replaced some damaged clusters in "name" file and "directory". Then, at the end "an unspecified error occurred (75736e6a726e6c2e 4f6)".

I`ll do it and I`ll be updating this thread when I have the report.
