Windows 10: task manager not closing programs after the last win 10 update.

Task manager will not close a program I am having trouble with.

In the older format of Task Manager in earlier versions of Windows, I could easily see which program was crashing and end the process by looking for the app that was marked as "not responding". In this new Task Manager format, I don't see anything that
shows a program as "not responding". I recently downloaded Win 10. Tonight I had many programs open on the Task Bar at the same time. One of these programs crashed which left an open window on the screen which was totally blank and there was nothing there
to let me know which of my open programs was responsible for this open blank window. I tried to close the window by clicking on the 'x' to no avail. I then opened Task Manager to search for the process that was marked as "not responding" so I could click
'end process' but could not find any place in Task Manager that showed me this information. The only way I could close the blank window from the underdetermined app was to turn off the computer. How do I determine the culprit program that is not responding
in Win 10 or its Task Manager and end the process if I can't close an unidentifiable and unresponsive program's Window?

 

Every task I end remains in the task manager for over 10 minutes?

Well lads.

The last couple of days I am having a strange issue with closing programs down,
I only notice it with games.
When ever I exit a game, it remains in the task manager for over 10 minutes and it cannot be ended in anyway. The only way to sort it out is to just wait around or restart the computer.

I believe this has only just started to happen 2 days ago when I got my new GPU " ASUS Geforce GTX 560 Ti Direct CUII 900Mhz TOP "

The software that was installed could have caused it??

Win11 Task Manager crashes when closing Task Manager

GDay All,

I have an issue with Task Manager. Whenever I try to close Task Manager it hangs and will not close. Clicking on the close button several times will eventually show the 'not responding' message and it will then pop up a dialogue allowing you to close the program or wait for it to respond.

Also, when Task Manager is open and running, there seems to be a few issues with it, like not reporting events correctly or reporting changes slowly etc.

I have tried several suggestions found on the net and I even tried doing a repair install, but nothing so far has corrected the issue.

Booting into 'safe mode' shows the same behaviour where closing the Task Manager causes it to hang and Task Manager generally misbehaves.

A related issue seems to be File Explorer will occasionally lock up and not allow me to expand a folder (by clicking on the arrow beside the folder name), although it seems to still function otherwise. To correct the issue I need to close and restart File Explorer.

This has been happening for the last 3 weeks or so and I am not sure if it is related to a Windows update or not.

Does anyone have any suggestions or possible fixes for this issue?

Any help would be appreciated.
