Windows 10: Task manager not working, applications not closing

Recently I've noticed that when I try to close some applications via Task Manager, it would not close at all and just be sent to background applications and appear to still run despite being off of my screen and taskbar. The Disk/CPU usage would be 0% but the ram would still be used and the amount of ram was massive 10,000. I've done a ram diagnostic, reinstalled windows 11, reinstalled all of the software, done RestoreHealth, but nothing is working. any help?

No restart button in task manager

another easy way to kill tasks, download and install Winaero Tweaker(free) and theres a setting to add a Kill non responding tasks using the desktop right click menu. When you place your cursor on the desktop anywhere and right click the option is at the top of the list, Very handy and you dont have to go through all those steps and well Winaero Tweaker has alot of cool Windows tweaks. Just posting a different suggestion, Im sure your ok with what was suggested here.

Win11 Task Manager crashes when closing Task Manager

GDay All,

I have an issue with Task Manager. Whenever I try to close Task Manager it hangs and will not close. Clicking on the close button several times will eventually show the 'not responding' message and it will then pop up a dialogue allowing you to close the program or wait for it to respond.

Also, when Task Manager is open and running, there seems to be a few issues with it, like not reporting events correctly or reporting changes slowly etc.

I have tried several suggestions found on the net and I even tried doing a repair install, but nothing so far has corrected the issue.

Booting into 'safe mode' shows the same behaviour where closing the Task Manager causes it to hang and Task Manager generally misbehaves.

A related issue seems to be File Explorer will occasionally lock up and not allow me to expand a folder (by clicking on the arrow beside the folder name), although it seems to still function otherwise. To correct the issue I need to close and restart File Explorer.

This has been happening for the last 3 weeks or so and I am not sure if it is related to a Windows update or not.

Does anyone have any suggestions or possible fixes for this issue?

Any help would be appreciated.
