  1. Task manager opens for a second then closes

HelloI have been having an issue for a few months and I finally decided to take action, task manager closing about a second after opening it. I browsed about 10 threads and still could not find a solution. It works in safe mode, but I do not know how to get it to work in a normal bootSo far I have tried : - Booting in safe mode : worked- Enabling task manager via registry : did not work- SFC and DISM scans : did not work the scans ran fine, some corruption came up and it was all repaired/removed and I ran the scans until no more errors showed- Ran a windows system file checker scan : did not

    :)

  2. Windows 10 Task Manager opens and closes instantly?

    Hello,

One of the possible causes why you can't open the Task Manager is due to some task which is running in background. Having said
that, we suggest performing the suggestions posted by Singh Sarandeep in this
    thread
. Quite a few people found his suggestions helpful.

Note that the information in the thread applies to Windows 8.1, but still applicable to Windows 10.

  3. Windows 10 Task Manager opens and closes instantly?

Thank you for your response Michelle, however running "cmd /k netstat" does not seem to work, my task manager still opens for a millisecond and then closes. Although on rare occasions when I first boot up my computer and it is still
quite laggy I can open my task manager for a second but after everything catches up it then closes. Furthermore, the "Also you may perform the clean boot and see if it helps." does not work
also because the steps provided in the clean boot requires me to open the "startup tab" in task manager. As you may guess, I cannot open startup tab because my entire task manager does not open. With further digging I have found that my HKEY_CURRENT_USER
\ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies\ System has now only have one line of command: "Name (default) Type- REG_SZ Data- (Value not set). I do not see anymore lines of command there, for example the line "DisableTaskMgr" is not there
anymore along with several lines of commands that use to be there before messing with "DisableTaskMgr (0)" command. My computer is running just fine, maybe just a bit slower it is just that I am so used to be able to see how my computer is running, for example
how fast my computer is running and see what programs are running in case it stops responding and I have to close it manually.

PS: My task manager used to open with the "more details" version, now it opens as a small little box, I don't know if that makes a difference.

This is what my task manager looks like before closing a second later. (The stuff does not load in, just exits out)

Task manager opens for a second then closes

No restart button in task manager

another easy way to kill tasks, download and install Winaero Tweaker(free) and theres a setting to add a Kill non responding tasks using the desktop right click menu. When you place your cursor on the desktop anywhere and right click the option is at the top of the list, Very handy and you dont have to go through all those steps and well Winaero Tweaker has alot of cool Windows tweaks. Just posting a different suggestion, Im sure your ok with what was suggested here.
