Windows 10: Task manager - show USB traffic

Task manager is a useful tool, showing the traffic on various devices, memory, disks, ethernet etc.I have a USB connection to a scanner which is having random problems. It may be due to the USB link, or how the scanner programme controls it.It would be useful to monitor the USB traffic and then how the program transforms then saves the data to a SSD.How can the USB traffic be shown in the Task manager window?Thank you

Task Manager Locks USB Drives

Thank your for the quick response.

I can rule out that the problem relates in an way to Windows Explorer. There is no foreground instance of WE running, and there are no other processes accessing files on the drive as well. Even shutting down WE via the task manager does not release the device. Only closing the task manager helps.

I may reproduce the problem by the following steps:

1. Insert the memory stick (i. e. USB drive) into the USB port.
   
2. Start the task manager.
   
3. Try to eject the drive safely. The error message pops up.
   
4. Close task manager.
   
5. Try to eject the drive safely again. The device is released instantly.
   

Interestingly, you must not reverse steps 1 and 2 to reproduce the error.

I suspect that the problem relates to task manager's monitoring of disk activities.

No restart button in task manager

another easy way to kill tasks, download and install Winaero Tweaker(free) and theres a setting to add a Kill non responding tasks using the desktop right click menu. When you place your cursor on the desktop anywhere and right click the option is at the top of the list, Very handy and you dont have to go through all those steps and well Winaero Tweaker has alot of cool Windows tweaks. Just posting a different suggestion, Im sure your ok with what was suggested here.

 

Windows 10 - cannot add exec to Startup in Task Manager

I purchased a new computer with Windows 10 already installed. I am trying to add an exec to the startup list but Win10 will not accept it. The exec runs successfully on my Windows 10 machine if I start it manually.

Steps I've taken: Task Manager, Startup Tab, File>Run New Task. (browse to location, select.) It will start immediately, but does not show up on the list to autostart, nor does it start on reboot.

Any suggestions?
