  1. Task Manager, Start Menu, and Explorer.exe not working properly

Hi,This is a recent problem, and I've found a few answers, but at the moment, none seems to work. At the moment, the Windows Start Menu button on the taskbar, as well as on my keyboard seems to be unresponsive. That was the first noticeable symptom at least, afterwards upon trying to restart explorer.exe by way of Task Manager, I've found that while it does open up, it doesn't load all the way. I've found ways to open msconfig through the File Explorer's search bar itself, but if I right click on the desktop or File Explorer, the options either don't open at all desktop or if they do, the

  2. Windows 10 Start menu not working properly

    Hi Hector,

Thank you for posting your response.

I suggest you to follow the instructions provided below and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

I suggest you to follow the steps provided below to make your start menu work and check if it helps.

    • Open the Task manager. Here’s a tip: Press CTRL+Shift+ESC.
    • Click File > Run New Task
    • Make sure you have a check mark beside “Create this task with administrative privileges”
    • Type Powershell
    • Type the following 2 commands in the Powershell prompt:

      $manifest = (Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.WindowsStore).InstallLocation + '\AppxManifest.xml' ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifestand press Enter.
    Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers |Where-Object {$_.InstallLocation -like "*SystemApps*"}and press Enter.

    • Close the Powershell window.
    • Reboot.

Task Manager, Start Menu, and Explorer.exe not working properly

    START menu not working properly

starting about 6 weeks ago whenever I clicked 'start' not all the pinned apps and other operation options are listed. Today control panel is not listed. only: apps & features, power options, event viewer, system, device manager, network communications,
computer management, windows power shell, task manager, file explorer, search run, shut down, and desktop. If I left click on start only large blank square icon images come up. I have to right click start then desktop to bring up all the desktop app icons.
The start menu is empty except for the items listed above.

Is there a way to restore start menu to its original format with all its functional options?
