Windows 10: Task scheduled in Task Scheduler won't run from shortcut

I have a task set up in Task Scheduler on Win 10 Pro 64-bit and it runs correctly when run from Task Scheduler. I cannot get the task to run from a shortcut. I do not know whether this is relevant, but in the Settings window of Task Scheduler it shows the checkbox next to "Allow task to be run on demand" as correctly checked, butthat entire line is greyed out.


The actual task is simply to run Acrobat.exe without prompting a UAC warning/request every time I want to use Acrobat. If I do NOT launch Acrobat as Administrator, then it insists on re-registering Acrobat. I'm just trying to get a normal behaviour from this old Acrobat 8 package for which Adobe apparently have shut down the re-registration/activation site. My copy was registered before, but I have had tis problem ever since upgrading to Win 10.

• Have you tried recreating the task? If so, are you getting the same issue?
• Have you tried creating a new task?

• Type services.msc and hit Enter.
• Under Services (Local), make sure that the Task Scheduler service's status is

Cannot schedule a task with Task Scheduler - error 2147942403

Hi,

I suggest you to check the below settings and check fi it helps.

• In task scheduler, click on the scheduled job properties > then settings.
• In the last listed option: "If the task is already running, the following rule applies:"
• Select "Stop the existing instance" from the drop down list.
• Save and Exit. Then check whether the task is running or not.
