    Task scheduler not activating two tasks


    I have two tasks scheduled to begin on system start up. Recently neither has started as they should and must be "run" manually within TS.They are both "create a restore point at system start up". One is a .VBS file, the other is an .XML file supplied in 2023 in answer to a similar post.Can someone please give me a resolution as to why these two tasks should suddenly stop working, and how to get them activating as they should.Thank you.

    I suggest you to clear the task from Task Scheduler using the below steps and check if the issue still persists.

    Steps:-

    • Type Task Scheduler on Search bar.
    • Click on Task Scheduler Library.
    • Select the particular task and right click on it.
    • Select End.

    • Have you tried recreating the task? If so, are you getting the same issue?
    • Have you tried creating a new task?
    Meanwhile, we suggest that you ensure that the Task Scheduler is running. You can verify if the service is running by following these steps:

    • Press Windows key + R on your keyboard.
    • Type services.msc and hit Enter.
    • Under Services (Local), make sure that the Task Scheduler service's status is
      Started or Enabled.

    Task Scheduler Utility

    Anything you can run manually can be run from Task scheduler. I do suggest that you check which power states your computer has because S0 Modern standby [aka S0 Low power idle] inhibits Task scheduler significantly. Code:
    If you have S0 then Task scheduler cannot run anything while in S0 i.e. while your display is off. Denis
