  1. Task Scheduler task files need conversion to XML

    My main Win 10 computer died needed to replace it anyway since it wouldn't run Win 11. I have my new Windows 11 computer up and running and I want to transfer my Tasks to the new computer. I have the system disk from my old computer connected to the new computer through USB and I have found my Task Scheduler task files from my old system. Since the original system is dead, I can't export them to get them in the correct format to import to the new system. I copied the files into the new computers Tasks directory but of course the Scheduler doesn't recognize them.Is there a way to simula

    :)

    Task Scheduler Batch file

    Hi all,

    Looking for some help.Im creating a batch file to run for different users to add a scheduled task. HOWEVER - the whole thing works great and has done for some time.But after i run the batch file on each machine (different users) i have to go into the security options and change the user the task runs in to the unique user of that machine. Is there a way to use the batch file to pull the account name of the machine (or computer name) and use that as the user the task runs in?

    Thanks =)

  3. Task Scheduler - Windows 10 1809 Image

    OK, the next step in trouble-shooting is to examine your task. Please do this:

    1. Right-click the task, then export it to an .xml file.
    2. Open the .xml file with Notepad.exe.
    3. Copy its contents into your reply.

    Corrupt task scheduler

    The same way as you restore your own tasks:

    1. Copy the underlying .xml file to some holding areaa, e.g.

      c:\Windows\System32\Tasks\Microsoft\Windows\WDI\ResolutionHost -> C:\Tasks
    2. Rename the copied task file by adding an .xml extension.
    3. Open the Task Scheduler and navigate to the relevant subfolder.
    4. Import the renamed file.
    It is unlikely that you need to recreate system tasks. They are in most cases intact.
