  1. Task View Swipe on Monitor vs Laptop

Hi, I'm new to this subreddit and to Windows in general (Mac user).

I have a Dell Latitude Windows 10 laptop connected to a Acer 27" monitor via HDMI. I chose to 'extend display' (so I have 2 distinct, separate displays rather than mirroring what's on my laptop).

Windows 10 has a Task View feature that enables you to have multiple 'desktops' and easily access those desktops by the swiping left/right on the trackpad (multi-touch gesture) just like Macs.

My issue is - when I swipe left on my laptop touchpad to switch desktops, the same effect is replicated on my monitor as well. I want to switch off / disable that.

    You can imagine how frustrating it is;

e.g. If I have Microsoft Teams & Outlook running on 2 'desktops' on my laptop and Chrome & Excel running on 2 'desktops' on my monitor, when I swipe left on my laptop touchpad to go from Teams to Outlook, the Chrome screen that I'm viewing on my monitor also switches simultaneously to Excel.

What are some solutions to this?

  2. Task View

It's the Task View, not the Task Bar, that is the problem. I should be getting the popup (right clicking on Task View) showing the options for additional Desktops, not the five options for the Task Bar. A 'chat' with MS Solutions said that I should reinstall
Windows 10 to MAYBE correct this problem. Any suggestions to correct?? Thanks for your interest...I really appreciate it.
The Task View is the only feature that I may like on 10!!

  3. Three fingers swipe to open Task View on Windows 10

    Hi Jeremy,

We appreciate you for being a part of Windows 10.

Before proceeding, we need more information to help you better.

    • How did you update the latest synaptic touchpad drivers? Ii it through manufacture website/any other source?

    • Have you installed all the latest Windows updates?

    • Have you changed any Mouse or touchpad settings prior to the issue? Is it the first time you are facing this issue after installing Windows 10 in your computer?
Until you reply to us, you may follow the below suggestions

As you have updated the touchpad drivers, check if you are able to configure the finger swipe touchpad gestures by following the below steps.

    • Press Windows + X keys on the keyboard to open settings menu.

    • Click on Devices, select
      Mouse and Touchpad
on the left navigation pane under the Devices settings window.

    • Change the settings to enable touchpad features under
      Touchpad.
Under the touchpad, check whether you are able to configure the three finger swipe gestures.

Kindly let us know if you need any further assistance with the issue. We are glad to assist you.

    Thank you.

Task View Swipe on Monitor vs Laptop

    Suggestions for multi-tasking laptop

Good day. I need some help picking out a new laptop and was wondering if I could get some suggestions from the members here.

The laptop will be for personal and business use and needs to be able to run multiple applications simultaneously with ease. It also has to have a Windows OS. As far as budget, I'm undecided, but I'm prepared to spend over $1,500. If you could, maybe suggest a low end laptop around $1,500 and another slightly better machine around the $2,000-$2,200 mark.

To give you an idea of what the machine will be handling on a daily basis, listed below are the applications I currently have running and usually have running at all times.

--Google Chrome with 7 tabs open (blogs/forums)
--Photoshop CS4 with 3 files open, the largest being a 2550x3300 pixel, 35MB file
    --Spotify
    --Microsoft Word
    --FilaZilla Cilent
    --IrfanView

In an effort to help you better select a laptop for my needs, I've included a link below to a screenshot of my task manager so you can see how much memory these applications are using.

ImageShack - Best place for all of your image hosting and image sharing needs

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks for your help in advance.
