    Playback

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that it can be disappointing when something doesn’t work the way it should. We will look into this for you. In order to get clarity of the issue and to assist you with appropriate troubleshooting steps, please reply
with the answers to the questions below.

    1. Is the issue particular with the Olympus DSS or are you not able to hear any audio from your system?
    2. Was there any major change or an update on your system, prior to which you weren’t facing this issue?

Meanwhile, I would suggest you to follow the methods below and check if works for you.

Method 1: Set the default audio device.

Check if the appropriate audio device is selected for the audio output. To do that, please follow the steps below:

    1. Right-click on the
Speaker icon at the end of the Taskbar.
    2. Select Sounds, this will open the Sounds window for you.
    3. Click on the Playback tab.
    4. Select the desired device in the list of devices and click on the
      Set Default button.
    5. Click on Apply and then click on
      Ok.

If the default device is set appropriately and the issue still persists, please follow 'Method 2'.

Method 2: Allow exclusive control of the audio device.

    1. Right-click on the
Speaker icon at the end of the taskbar.
    2. Select Sounds, this will open the
      Sounds window for you.
    3. Click on the Playback tab.
    4. Select the desired device and click on
      Properties.
    5. In the upcoming window, click on the
      Advanced tab.
    6. Click on the check box for the
Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device.
    7. Restart your PC and check if the issue still persists.

If you require further assistance, please reply to this thread with the results of the troubleshooting steps. We will be happy to assist you.

    We await your response.

    audio problems

    Hi,

One possible reason that you’re experiencing sound issue is missing or outdated drivers. We suggest that you update the display drivers by following the steps on this
    article.

You may also try checking the sound settings if the default audio device is set to an HDMI output.

    • Right-click the sound icon on the taskbar.
    • Select Playback devices.
    • Under the Playback tab, make sure you choose HDMI output as default audio device.

Feel free to send us your feedback at your convenience.

    AUDIO SERVICE NOT WORKING.

    Hi,

In that case, I suggest you follow below.

    Step 1:

In the search box on the taskbar, type device manager, then select it from the results.

    Step 2:

Select the arrow next to Sound, video and game controllers to expand it.

    Step 3:

Look for IDT High Definition Audio CODEC. If it's listed, right-click it and select Update Driver, then select Browse my computer for driver software > Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.

    Step 4:

You’ll see a list of pre-installed drivers. Select High Definition Audio Device, and then select Next.

    Step 5:

    Restart PC

Let me know the results after performing the above.
