Windows 10: Taskbar disappears after start

It's probably because of a recent update or due to remote system detection done on my device. Nonetheless, is there a fix to make the taskbar menu appear immediately? It's been several days already and my Windows 11 device does not show the taskbar automatically when I start my laptop. I need to wait for a few more minutes for it to appear, or click on the bottom part, and try to drag something, which does not work.

Randomly disappearing taskbar and start icons

I have tried doing fresh installs of Windows 10 multiple times but I always face this issue where items in the start menu and/or taskbar jump lists disappear randomly. I am attaching a screenshot for this. This also happens when after I close any game (Eg. Battlefield 4, Tomb Raider etc).




The icons, though invisible are still working if I move my cursor over them and click them. Restarting explorer.exe fixed the problem temporarily.

Can you give us some more information.

You mentioned fresh install. Always from same source? Is media OK?
Did you try to clean jump lists, icon cache etc...

Picture shows icons are there, but no text. Is info behind still there? Hoover mouse pointer over icon with empty text box (not pinned, below in list) to see if text - path info shows..

 

Microsoft edge has disappeared from taskbar and not starting at all

In order to assist you better I would like to as if the issue is only with Edge or any other applications in the taskbar. And also are you able to add other applications to the taskbar.

I suggest you to follow the steps below:

• Press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC.
• In details tab, select explorer.exe and click on End Task.
• Click on File, select New Task and type “explorer.exe” and press Enter.

Try to open Edge and check. If the issue still persists, then run a SFC (System File Checker) scan by following the steps below.

• Right click on Start button and select “Command Prompt (Admin)”.
• Type “sfc /scannow” and press Enter.
• After the scan is complete, type “exit” and press Enter.
