Windows 10: taskbar does not appear on firefox

on firefox 78.6esr the taskbar doesn't appear when i mouse down to the bottom of the screen.

googling this provides no solutions. neither does another profile or de/re-installing. apparently this problem has been around for several years. i posted this on mozilla forums and got no answers...

what to do?

Did you try reinstalling the Firefox program? If not, I suggest that you do the same and check if it helps.

Combining the taskbar buttons should fix this issue. Refer to the following steps to do the same:

• Right click on Taskbar and select
  Properties.
• Select Always combine, Hide labels
  in Taskbar buttons.

This is not the solution to this particular problem. The same thing is happening with Skype. As you can see I only have one Skype window open, taskbar properties are set to combine buttons, yet there are two Skype icons.

This was a problem in Windows 7 but it could be solved by unpinning the old icon and pinning the new one. This does not work in Windows 10 so it is likely a different problem.

Hi all - For some reason, when I pin Firefox to the taskbar and click on the icon, a second Firefox icon appears. I've tried unpinning and re-pinning and nothing seems to solve the issue. This is the only application I have a problem with.

Any ideas?
