    Taskbar goes black for 30 seconds then icons appear back


    I think about yesterday my laptop started refreshing its task bar i think? Which causes my taskbar to go black for 30 seconds and causes my fans to spin for about a minute. I am on windows 11 build 22000.556. I have no idea what started this but it gets annoying and id like to fix it

    Taskbar icons

    Hi,

    To address your concern, follow the steps below on how to show hidden icons on the taskbar.

    • Open Settings, and click on the Personalization
      icon.
    • Click on Taskbar on the left side, and click on the
      Select which icons appear on the taskbar       link under the Notification area section on the right.
    • Turn on Always show all icons in the notification area at the top

    Let us know how it goes.

    System Icons on taskbar

    Hi,

    Thank you for posting on Microsoft Communities.

    Are you referring to the clock system icon on the taskbar?

    If so, I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below:


    • Click on the search bar on the taskbar.

    • Type system icons.

    • Under Turn System Icons ON or OFF, turn On the Clock and check with the issue.

    Pinning Firefox to Taskbar causes second icon on tasbar to appear

    This is not the solution to this particular problem. The same thing is happening with Skype. As you can see I only have one Skype window open, taskbar properties are set to combine buttons, yet there are two Skype icons.

    This was a problem in Windows 7 but it could be solved by unpinning the old icon and pinning the new one. This does not work in Windows 10 so it is likely a different problem.
