Taskbar Thumbnail Hover does not always open applicable App & instance window particular document of that App when clicked. Sometimes works but there is definitely an issue. Affecting productivity massively. Can anyone advise a fix? Taskbar Thumbnails

For some reason, when I hover over a program in the taskbar and there are multiple instances open, rather than 2 thumbnails, I get a list. How can I fix this? I have attached a photo to show the issue.

  3. How to OPEN Programs in Taskbar Preview WITHOUT Clicking ??

@Triliuner I'm sorry to hear it's not as simple as that.

When you have multiple windows opened from a single application e.g. 2 separate windows from Chrome, do they show up as previews when you hover over Chrome's icon in the taskbar, or as a list? Just asking to clarify that, they are at least showing as previews. If not, this should help: Change Taskbar Thumbnail Threshold to Show List in Windows 10 Windows 10 Tutorials

As for the different windows not showing when you hover your mouse over a preview, maybe it has something to do with the delay, see here: Change Delay Time to Show Taskbar Thumbnails in Windows 10 Windows 10 Tutorials (restoring the default value)

I hope that helps, if not, maybe others can suggest some other things to try..

Taskbar Hover Thumbnail Click Does Not Always Open App

Always show titles on taskbar thumbnails?

I see your point now, and have to admit you're right here. Thumbnails and slots on Taskbar are not aligned, if taskbar is on left or right side, and it's hard to catch which one represents which. Titles could be on permanently for such setup.

I would provide a feedback to MS, describing your problem. While MS decides, if they follow your suggestion, you could select between open windows of same application (explorer in your case) by hovering mouse over thumbnails, instead over taskbar - normal windows will be opened that represents the thumbnail.
