Windows 10: Taskbar popups disappear before I can act on them

If I have multiple windows of, for example, my browser open not tabs, they appear on the taskbar as a single icon. If I hover on that icon, thumbnails of the windows appear above the taskbar and I can then click on the relevant thumbnail to bring that window to focus.Sometimes.Far more often, as soon as I move the pointer away from the icon towards the thumbnails, they disappear. This is infuriating. The same thing happens with other apps which open multiple windows, like explorer. I've had this problem for years it was certainly there in Windows 10 and possibly earlier versions and every

Taskbar popup menus and action center intermittently disappear...

Since upgrading to Windows 10, the taskbar popup menus and the Action Center frequently disappear. Right-clicking on the taskbar has no effect. Clicking on the Action Center icon on the taskbar does not open the Center but yields a box with two choices
- Open Action Center and Quiet Hours.

Any pages which already are open show when I hover over the appropriate area on the taskbar, but the menus will not popup. These menus are extremely convenient for navigation; their disappearance frustrates easily completing new tasks.

These two problems happen simultaneously and I have to restart my PC to get these functions back. After the restart everything is fine but after a while, they may go away again. I am unable to pinpoint their disappearance any more clearly than "after a
while." It seems to be an intermittent occurrence and doesn't seem to relate to which or how many apps I have running, the core temperature of my PC, or a specific time interval.

Any ideas as to what is causing this? Having to close my work and restart is a nuisance (and time-consuming).

Are you referring to taskbar preview window pop-ups?



If yes, there is no option to disable the taskbar window pop-ups when you hover the mouse, this is by design. However you may Auto-hide taskbar by following the below steps and check if it helps.

• 
  Right click on the taskbar and select properties.
  
• 
  In the Taskbar tab, Place a tick mark for Auto-hide the taskbar.

Taskbar doesn't disappear when entering fullscreen

I tried the Ctrl-Alt-Del and found Windows Explorer. Unfortunately, I didn't choose Restart; I killed the process. (didn't read the instructions well enough!) :-/ ... I did eventually find a way to Restart Windows Explorer, but the problem (disappearing Task bar not disappearing/reappearing as it should/used to) did not solve itself. I then RESTARTED the PC. Still not fixed.

So, I found another answer from microsoft and followed those steps. It worked! (needed the display driver updated.)

Here's that set of instructions:

I suggest you to try updating the Display Adapter drivers check if it works for you.

Follow the steps to update the Display driver:

Press Windows Key + X key and click Device Manager.
Expand ‘Display Adapters’.
Right-click on the Display Adapter listed and click on ‘Update Driver Software’.
Select the option to automatically search for the updated driver software.
Restart the computer after its updated and verify.

Also try to access the computer manufacturer's website and download the latest chipset and display drivers for your computer and install the same.
