Windows 10: Taskbar search, cortana, calendar, and file explorer search stopped working after recent update

Hey guys,recently after receiving update KB5003637 I lost the ability to use cortana, taskbar calendar, and search in file explorer. After trying a plethora of different options that I found here within this forum, I ended up having to uninstall the recent update. My question is "will this be a problem the next time an update is pushed?" The issue was local to my user account. So much so, that when I created a new account and tried to migrate my user profile, the problem followed. I just want to make sure that I wont end up in the same place after every update.Thanks!

Cortana Taskbar Search Not Working

Cortana taskbar search shows up but when you click on it, you cannot enter text. Also even though you can see the Cortana control panel listing when searching in Settings when you click on it it does not open. I checked and the Cortana files are in the System Apps folder. The Cortana process does not show up in Task Manager processes. It looks like some built in Win 10 Microsoft apps are disabledoing in Apps and Settings. See attached pics. Any tips would help fix this Cortana taskbar search issue will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

 

File Explorer Search Not Working


I am trying to search in File Explorer (Windows Explorer, My Computer) and it will not find anything. I can copy text from a name in the list and paste it in the search box and it still finds nothing. I have looked at the suggestions that have been posted and nothing I find that is relative to this works. Anyone have any suggestions? I am running Win 10 Pro on an I3 coustom desktop computer.

 

Explorer search not working with additional HD

1. Open explorer (e.g. Windows key + E) - or type 'explorer' in the Cortana search box on the taskbar and click 'File explorer' or via the shortcut on the taskbar ....
2. In the search box top right (you should see text 'Search this PC') type what you are searching for.
3. Press the Return key.
4. Look for your results in that window.

Please see my earlier post on suggestion as to what to type.

Note that indexed results will be fast (but only some things are indexed by default) - see Indexing options in the Control Panel e.g.
Non-indexed searching is slower.

3rd party solutions as previously suggested yield fast results.

Creating the shortcut as suggested simply opens explorer and puts your mouse cursor in the explorer search box.
