  1. Taskbar settings are completely greyed out

    Hello,

if I right click on my taskbar I am greeted with a greyed out "Taskbar Settings" and "Lock the Taskbar"

If I go to the personalization control panel for the Taskbar, all options are greyed out.

I have created a new local admin user, and the options are greyed out for that user also.

I didn't do anything to make this happen. I have reverted to the defaut windows 10 theme. I have played with the group policy editor, nothing seems to be fixing this issue.

    Can someone help?

    :)

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Thanks for the suggestions and for the time to respond Taskbar settings are completely greyed out :) Best regards.

And thanks for the tip of that program, I'll have it on my list.

Taskbar - to restore to default settings

    Hi,

To change the settings for the icons on your taskbar, follow the steps below:

    • Right click on your taskbar.
    • Select on Settings.
    • On the pop-up window, look for the Combine taskbar buttons option.
    • Click on the drop-down arrow and choose Always, hide labels.
    • Once done, you can now close the settings window.

These steps should help you with your issue.

Get back to us if you need further assistance.

    Pinning "Settings" to the Taskbar

I've tried both suggestions. But thanks to your(?) earlier post, I do have an icon pinned to the taskbar for settings.

Both were my posts Taskbar settings are completely greyed out :) In fact, at first I forgot to post the usual steps to pin Settings to taskbar, and rather complicated (which I thought) by suggesting you create a shortcut. Hence the 2nd post. Anyway, glad the shortcut method helped.
