Independent taskbar and window border colours?


One of the things I find most annoying about Windows 7, being a long-time XP user, is the lack of independent colour settings for the various GUI elements, for example, the taskbar, active window title bar and active window border colours are not separately settable. I see no reason whatsoever why this has to be so - XP offered far, far more flexibility in this respect.

As far as I can see, we still have the same situation with Windows 10. It appears to be impossible to have the taskbar a different colour to the active window title bar and border. It is even impossible to get the taskbar to be a solid colour - it is always transparent. There is not even a Windows 7-like opacity control. A massive step backwards in user personalisation control.

And why doe the window border have to be so thin? I can hardly see it at all.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused. I will surely assist you with this.

I would suggest you to change the desktop themes and check if you are able to see the transparent taskbar.

If that doesn't help I would suggest you to end the explorer.exe and restart it and see if you are able to see the transparent taskbar.

Please follow the steps below to restart explorer.exe:

stop and start Explorer.exe

    Right click on the taskbar and select task manager.
    
  • 
    In the process Right click on windows explorer and end the task
    
  • 
    Restart the task by clicking on the file and select new task
    
  • 
    Type Explorer.exe and press enter.
    

And see if it helps.

Taskbar Icon Labels in Wrong Position

I would like to add that I've got the same issue with a VMWare image (Win10 Preview Build 10532) and with an older HP laptop.

Also:

• The behaviour is repeated in Safe Mode
• The issue is only present if:

• The taskbar is set to Auto-hide

AND

• The taskbar is transparent (Settings > Personalisation > Colours > Make Start, taskbar and action centre transparent > On) [Thanks Linney].

From the above I conclude that it must be a bug (although minor) in Windows 10, or ?
