    Taskbar, Taskmanager and Desktop not working


    When logging in everything seems to work fine but with time, it gets worse:When I press crtl+shift+esc or ctrl+alt+delete and then on task manager, it does not open the task manager. So there is no way I can think of to restart explorer.exe.Nothing on the taskbar works. Nothing. I can not start programs via taskbar, r

    I would like to know if you're still having this issue with MS Store and Taskmanager. In line with this, kindly provide the following information:

    • What is the error message when running MS Store and Taskmanager?
    • Were there any changes made before this issue came up?
    • What is the build and version of your Windows 10? To find out which version of Windows your PC is running, press Windows logo key + R, type
      winver, then select OK.
    • What are the troubleshooting steps you have done so far?

    Desktop and Taskbar not working properly

    Hi Ashtyn,

    It seems that your laptop is in tablet mode. For us to verify this, let's look into the settings and switch to desktop mode. Follow these steps:

    • Open Settings and click System.
    • In the left pane, click Tablet mode.
    • Under Tablet mode, set the When I sign in option to
      Use desktop mode.

    Once done, check if the start menu is closed and if the programs you have opened appear in the taskbar.

    I solved this in 2 steps:

    1. Open TaskManager (right click on taskbar or CTRL_ALT+DELETE)
    2. In processes, locate and Right-click on Windows Explorer , than click on Restart.

    Hope it works for you guys too!
