Windows 10: Taskbar windows/buttons keep changing length

Not sure if it's related to a recent update, but I've been getting some stranger behavior with my taskbar recently.

I do not combine my taskbar buttons, I like the old school standard taskbar, with regular sized "buttons" when you have different windows open.

However recently the width of these window buttons on the taskbar became significantly larger. Yesterday at one point a single taskbar button was as wide of the entire taskbar. Now if I opened an additional window, they still took up the entire taskbar, each of them took half the real estate.

Oddly enough, when I rebooted, the taskbar buttons went back to the original size I'm used to. But now today I'm getting the wider ones, but taking up the whole task bar, but wider than usual.

Now I do use a USB-C dock with my laptop, not sure if it might have something to do with the video signal/resolution going out. But the resolution/scaling stays the same everywhere, just these damn taskbar buttons. And I get the same wider buttons even when it's not docked.



What the heck is going on?

Problem with a combine taskbar icons.

Hello,

In Windows 10, you can personalize the settings of your taskbar. If there are multiple applications opened, same applications will be combined under one taskbar button. If you want to change this setting, we suggest that you follow the steps listed below:

• Press the Start button.
• Click on the Settings app.
• Select Personalization.
• At the left side of your window, click on Taskbar.
• Under Combine taskbar buttons, choose Never.

Good morning,

I have been looking online to find the way to personalize my Surface 3 (colors, background, etc.).

The only problem is when I get to to change the color of my taskbar. The lists of steps that I need to follow bring me to Settings - Personalization - Colors and finally to ''Show accent color on the following surface'' where normally I would need to click
on ''Start, taskbar, action center'', but turn out the button does'nt work...
