Windows 10: Taskbar / Windows Explorer repeatedly crashing / flashing / resetting

Ever since I installed the latest update, my taskbar and Explorer have been going nuts. I've rolled back my updates for months, and turned off Windows update to prevent it. So months after its release, I finally reinstalled Version 21H1 again, and am continuing to have the same problems as before. Edition Windows 10 Pro Version 21H1 Installed on ‎8/‎18/‎2020 OS build 19043.1165 Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.3530.0 It's very frustrating and disruptive, and I have all of the latest updates. Any idea what's wrong and how I can fix it?

Cannot launch File Explorer from taskbar in Windows 10

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

• First unpin the File Explorer from the task bar.
• Press Windows + E.
• And right click on File Explorer in the taskbar.
• And Pin the File Explorer to Taskbar and Check if it helps.

Windows explorer crashing

Hi,

I am having the same problem as the OP in this thread.
Windows Explorer crashes whenever I open my external HDD or thumb drive in explorer..

I have tried the fixes listed in the above thread and I am getting the same error message as 'ktadie' (post 16). I think this is because I am running Windows 7 Professional. Windows explorer crashes when I open my 'Films' folder on my brand new 2tb external HDD. I have about 300 .avi files in this folder and some of the .avi files are several years old.

In short I believe I need the same fix given by 'Wile E' (post 7) but updated for Windows 7 Professional.
