Windows 10: team urgent help 250+gb data got deleted from d drive without me doing anything . want to...

half an hour i was working on my laptop. its windows 10. my d drive was around 312gb and suddenly is see 280+ gb free. however before that it was only 50GB. so all the files got deleted autmatically. it had data from last 15yrs of work and personal and financial. dont have backup..


i am scratching my head. please save me to get my data. i havent deleted any data. it suddenly disappeared.

If you need 5 GB space to install any programs, deleting the cloud data from One Drive does not help you to get the required space in your drive.

I suggest you to delete the unwanted data and unused applications to clean up the drive.

I'd recommend you to try using a different USB cable with it and see if that will help your system to detect it without it disconnecting.
I'd also suggest you to go to Disk Management and see how the drive is listed there. It won't hurt to check up on the health and SMART status of the HDD by running the QUICK and EXTENDED tests from the WD's Data LifeGuard Diagnostics. D Drive

Thank you, RAJU.MSC for your answer. I don’t know if it is necessary to steal/partition drive D or even if I would be comfortable doing that.
It may be easier to just do as DaveM121 suggests and use Drive D for my data and keep the 128 GB ssd drive C for downloads and programs as it is much quicker.
Your thoughts?
