Windows 10: Teams Camera Issues

Today my built in camera stopped working in MS Teams. It works in all other applications on my computer, and it works in the Teams preview, but once I join a call my camera stops working. The light next to the physical camera turns on for a moment, then turns off again. Sometimes I get a message saying that teams is having trouble with my camera, but there is no error code or helpful information. I have checked my privacy settings, updated my camera driver, uninstalled and reinstalled Teams, and done all the fixes suggested in this previous topic: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/

Teams app camera does not work?

If your camera isn’t working in Microsoft Teams, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

1. Check for Updates:
   
   • Make sure you have the latest Windows update or update installed.
     
   • In Teams, go to Settings and Check for updates.
     
2. Close Other Apps and Restart:
   
   • Close any other apps that might be using your camera (like Skype or FaceTime).
     
   • If you’re using an external camera, unplug it and plug it back in.
     
   • Restart your device; sometimes a simple reboot can resolve camera issues.
     
3. Make a Test Call:
   
   • Open Teams, click your profile picture, and go to Settings > Devices.
     
   • Under Audio Settings, select Make a test call.
     
   • Follow the instructions from Test Call Bot to check if your mic, speaker, and camera are working.
     
4. Check App Permissions:
   
   • On Windows, open Settings > Privacy & security > Camera.
     
   • Turn on Let apps access your camera and ensure Microsoft Teams (work or school) is allowed.
     
   • If already enabled, toggle it off and back on.
     
   • Restart your device after making changes.
     
5. Update Drivers:
   
   • If using an external webcam or if your camera isn’t working in Windows 10, check your drivers.
     
   • Follow step-by-step instructions for checking your Windows drivers.

Windows 10 update issue - camera

I would require more information to help you better.

What is the make and model of the camera?

I would suggest you to make sure the camera is installed properly and listed under Device Manager.

Follow these steps:

• Press “Windows key + X” from keyboard.
• Select “Device Manager” option from the list.
• Check if the Camera is listed in the devices list.

If it is not listed then the Camera driver is not installed. I would suggest you to run “Hardware and Devices” troubleshooter to diagnose and fix the issue.

If the camera is listed in the device manager, then perform the following troubleshooting methods:

Method 1:

You may try running the Hardware and Device troubleshooter and check if it helps.

a. Press Windows Key +R, type Control Panel.

b. Type troubleshooting in the search bar, click on troubleshooting.

c. Click on Hardware and Sound, click on Hardware and Devices.

d. Follow the steps from the wizard to run the troubleshooter.

Method 2:

If that doesn’t work, then I would suggest you to perform troubleshooting steps from the link “What
to do if you have problems with an app” to diagnose and fix if the issue is with Camera app.

Method 3:

If this doesn’t fix the issue, I would suggest you to uninstall the camera from Device Manager then reinstall it and then check if this fixes the issue.

Follow these steps:

• Press “Windows key + X” from the keyboard.
• Select “Device Manager” option.
• Search for Camera, then right click and select “Uninstall”.
• Then restart the computer.
• Download the latest driver from the Manufacturer’s website and install it.

Windows 10 - Microsoft Teams - Software crashes/freezes when the Camera is enabled

Hello everybody,

Need some help please, Microsoft teams crashes/freezes when the inbuilt Camera on my Lenovo T470 is enabled, voice call works absolutely fine without any issues.

These are the troubleshooting steps I have taken so far

• Office Repair
• Reinstalled MS-Teams
• Security Settings - made sure that MS-Teams has access to the Camera
• Device Manager - Integrated camera - Checked if drivers needed updated
• Haven't connected an external camera as yet as i don't have one on me as of now .
• Windows 10 64bit - is up-to-date with all the software updates

Any troubleshooting tips would be much appreciated .
