Windows 10: Temp File Runaway Creation

Having an issue locating the creator of temporary files. Every few days I have to manually delete temporary files as they grow to a large size and completely fill the hard drive. Ive a link to images of the temp file names, and a screenshot of the contents. Any help on identifying the culprit program/reason for the rampant creation of these files would be appreciated. https://imgur.com/a/toOmL0A

Windows Temporary files are created by the operating system during the normal course of its running when there may not be enough memory allocated for the task.

I suggest you to follow the steps below to delete temporary files nad check if it helps:

Step 1

• Press Windows key + R
• Type temp and click OK
• Press Ctrl + A and click Delete

Step 2

• Press Windows key + R
• Type %temp% and click OK
• Press Ctrl + A and click Delete

Step 3

• Press Windows key + R
• Type prefetch and click OK
• Press Ctrl + A and click Delete

No joy. Win/Temp folder contains only one file as big as 75K all others are tiny although HD is full to capacity. Settings/System/storage/HD indicates >200GB of temp files. Using the temp delete facility has some effect but is overwhelmed by the continuous
creation process which only ceases when the HD is full. If I go straight to the above method of temp delete I can gain a little space for a couple of minutes slow operation then its a brick wall.

This problem has manifested itself from time to time since Win10 upgrade. Several attempts to delete using settings would eventually be successful and it would hold up for a few weeks.

Win 10 cumulative update 10?/8/16 failed to install and will not uninstall. The problem become as bad as it is now coincident with this failed update. Rectifying this if poss would probably alleviate the prob but not solve it completely.

I cannot at the moment afford the risk of restarting to a restore point.

I am able to see that that "System& Compressed memory (NT Kernel) is the front process that's continuously doing 10 to 75MB/s writes to HD until full. Is there anyway of drilling down & identifying the actual rogue process that is doing it?

Temp Files : Runaway Creation

Hi Folks

My PC is repeatedly filling its HD to capacity with temp files. This occurs from boot up with no apps running and no browser windows open. Attempts to use the delete temps in"Settings" fails to have any effect most times and there is no report back on the
result.

Using Task Mngr I have tried to identify which process is doing it but cannot distinguish a specific process behind " general system utilities".

It has been suggested to me that the culprit may be Norton (Windows defences are off) but I'm doubtful as I don't see Norton running frequently although I can see continuous writes to the HD at 10 to 50 MB/s.

I'm trying to avoid a S/W recovery rebuild but fear this may ultimately be the only way out.

If anyone recognises this problem and can offer advice on how to get to the bottom of it I'd be most grateful. With a full HD the PC is of course virtually useless.
