Windows 10: Temp Files bugged

I hav 49.8GB stuck in my temp files.


How it happened:


I was updating a game on Steam. Steam was pretty slow and kept crashing for some reason. I checked task manager and noticed Windows Installer and it turned out to be a Windows 10 update. I paused the update and opened Steam again. The game I was trying to update was now marked as uninstalled. I tried to reinstall it but I didn't hav any room. I checked the Steam files and saw that the game was still installed so I decided that I might as well mak a fresh install. I deleted the game manually and sent it to the recycling bin, since Steam still thought the game wasn't installed. I hit delete from recycling bin and the files were deleted. I check my hard drive space only to see that I'm still low. So the next thing I do is check my installed apps using windows storage only to see that the game is still there so I click uninstall there. It gets uninstalled and I check my harddrive space again only to see that it's still filled. Next I look at my storage again and my temp files had more than 50 gb. I used the storage to check on the temp files and noticed none of the options had that 50 gb anywhere. I clear it using the storage and later disk cleanup to bring it down to 49.8gb, which is about the size of the game.


Other things I've tried to fix the problem:


- Restart my laptop

- Delete another file to the recycling bin and hit clear recycling bin.

- Check disk for errors No errors found

- Check recycling bin for hidden files.

- Multiple disk cleanups using all options

Temp Files : Runaway Creation

Windows Temporary files are created by the operating system during the normal course of its running when there may not be enough memory allocated for the task.

I suggest you to follow the steps below to delete temporary files nad check if it helps:

Step 1

• Press Windows key + R
• Type temp and click OK
• Press Ctrl + A and click Delete

Step 2

• Press Windows key + R
• Type %temp% and click OK
• Press Ctrl + A and click Delete

Step 3

• Press Windows key + R
• Type prefetch and click OK
• Press Ctrl + A and click Delete

These temp files will not delete

• What happens, when you try to delete temp files?

I suggest you to follow these methods below and check, if it works:

Method 1:

• Press Windows key + R key together, to open RUN command Window.
• Type "temp" in the RUN Command Window, to open temp folder and then delete the files and folders inside the temp folder.

If the issue persists, follow method 2.

Method 2:

• Press Windows key + R key together, to open RUN command Window.
• Type "%temp%" in the RUN Command Window, to open temp folder and then delete the files and folders inside the temp folder.
  

If the issue persists, follow method 3.

Method 3:

I suggest you to boot the computer to Safe Mode, then perform disk cleanup on Windows 10 and check, if it works.

Temp file in File Explorer

Following a recent update, the Excel temp file shows up in File Explorer, as it should, but then it disappears, then pops up again, then disappears and pops up again, erratic but about every one or two seconds. As it appears at the top of the list, each
time it appears it moves all files down a row, and it does it so fast it is difficult to click on any file below it, as they are all constantly moving up or down. The Word temp file stays there like it should. Suggestions?
