Windows 10: Temp files in docs folders after relo to Windows 11 PC from MacBookPro

I recently moved back to a PC after being on a MacBookPro for about a year. I have ~119 files in my documents folder that have the syntax ~$truncatedfilename.XXX, where XXXX is docx, pptx, etc. The first part of the file names are truncated. They all are 1 kb. They are interspersed within the docs. They don't go away when I restart my PC. They don't go away when I use disk cleaning to delete temp files. Can I just delete? Are they legacy mac files?

The temp folder provides work space for programs. Yes they can be deleted. We suggest that you follow the steps provided by Sangeeta Sarkar on how to delete Temp files on this

link. You may also type in the search box Disk Cleanup and hit enter. It will evaluate your disk and give you a list of folders sizes that can be deleted.

These temp files will not delete

• What happens, when you try to delete temp files?

I suggest you to follow these methods below and check, if it works:

Method 1:

• Press Windows key + R key together, to open RUN command Window.
• Type "temp" in the RUN Command Window, to open temp folder and then delete the files and folders inside the temp folder.

If the issue persists, follow method 2.

Method 2:

• Press Windows key + R key together, to open RUN command Window.
• Type "%temp%" in the RUN Command Window, to open temp folder and then delete the files and folders inside the temp folder.
  

If the issue persists, follow method 3.

Method 3:

I suggest you to boot the computer to Safe Mode, then perform disk cleanup on Windows 10 and check, if it works.

Win10 in SSD, docs, apps and temp files on HDD?


I have a 128gb SSD and a 1TB HDD.

When I initially set this up on Windows 7, I had to move the default documents, apps and temp files folders to the HDD.

I am have upgraded to Win10, but want to do a fresh clean install.

Do I need to do anything to point not only my documents and apps but temp files to save to the HDD by default?
I know i can do this in storage settings for apps, docs etc - but what about temp and other files?

Any suggestions - thanks?
