    TEMP.${SYSTEM_NAME}.XXX and defaultuser100000 under C:\Users

    Dear MS-Community,

I have a problem with my user profile. Every time I start my computer a message "Just a moment..." appears. After that my normal login screen appears and I can login. Sometimes for some reason I have to login twice.

If I look under C:\Users I have several user profiles as can be seen in the image attached. I can delete those folders (of course not my user profile or the default/public one) most the time. Sometimes the folder is in used and it appears that I am logged in with that profile. Nevertheless if I start cmd and type "whoami" my user profile which I expect is always shown. In the Registry Editor (under Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\) a profile beside my user profile is listed. I can delete it but most the time after a login it is recreated. I tried to rename the field ProfileImagePath to point to my user profile. If I restart a .bak has been added to the profile and a new profile is there.

Any ideas to resolve this issue? TEMP.${SYSTEM_NAME}.XXX and defaultuser100000 under C:\Users :)

    Where did C:\users\Temp go?

No such folder as C:\Users\Temp, unless you created a user account called Temp. Even then, it's doubtful Windows would allow such an account to be created, since 'Temp' is a reserved system name.

  3. Windows 10 incorrect username in C:\Users\xxx

    Hello Krithika,

Thank you for posting your concern in Microsoft community and welcome to the Windows 10 Family.

From the description provided, I understand that you want to change the User Account folder name. I would like to assist you with further information from here.

I would suggest you to enable the Built in Administrator Account and then make appropriate changes to the folder name of the user account you intend to. To do so, follow the below steps.

    • Press the Windows key + R from the keyboard to open the Run Command Dialog Box
    • Enter cmd and right-click on the Command Prompt result that should appear.
    • This opens a list of options at the bottom. Select Run as administrator there.
    • Accept the UAC prompt
    • Enter the following command to enable the hidden administrator account:
      net user administrator /active:yes
    • Now login to the Built in Administrator account which you have enabled.
    • Open Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Users, open the Users folder, right click on the user profile folder (ex: Old Name) that you want to change the name of, and click on Rename.
Hope the above information is helpful. If you need further information, feel free to write to us and we would be happy to help you.
