Windows 10: Temporary Internet Files are not completely deleted after using the Disk Cleanup app

I never had this problem since last year of April until it started appearing after installing the August 2023 update.The size kept growing from 6.54 kb to 6.97 kb in the last week of August. Today, on September 3 2023, it increased to 7.10 kb. I always use the disk cleanup app by Storage Sense to free up some space everytime before shutting down, but this bothers me. I checked the location of those files but they were empty. Maybe there's a bug in the latest update that prevents the temporary internet files from deleting.Please fix the problem as soon as possible.Thank you.

For us to properly isolate your concern and provide an appropriate resolution, kindly answer the following questions below:

• We would like to confirm if you were running the Disk Cleanup utility?
• Can you confirm that the only files you cannot delete were all temporary Internet files?
• Was there a lock displayed beside the temporary Internet files?
• Were there any error messages when you tried to run a disk clean up.
• Can you send us a screenshot of the error message?
• What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

Disk cleanup: cannot delete temporary internet files

Note that the issue raised is NOT all temporary files. Rather, it is about temporary internet files.

 

Disk Cleanup Hanging / Not Completing - Temporary Files

Hi

Microsoft's 'Disk CleanUp' Utility frequently 'hangs' and does not (appear) to complete clearance of Temporary Files.

Note, I'm NOT referring to the 'Temporary Internet Folder' (with the PadLock Icon next to it) but rather, the other 'Temporary Files' volume that appears further down the Disk CleanUp Window (next to Thumbnails)
when you open Disk Cleanup.

At present, not a 'critical' issue, as Temporary File Size shown as just over 8MB, but would like to resolve, clean and stop the 'Hanging / Stalling'.

Is it safe to go to C/Users/User/AppData/Local/Temp then simply delete that Folder's 'Content' manually? (Or is that
not the source of the un-deleted Files?)

Don't want to install a Third Party Utility to run a 'Cleanup' (don't trust Third Party App Code - i.e. virus / adware risk)

Any thoughts?
