  2. How to reset Onedrive folder selection for desktop sync

So, on the Surface, you download from the onedrive website when you need a file that is available online through onedrive.

But then when you make a change to the file, it isn't updated, it's out of sync.

Whereas before, onedrive took on that part of it.

I wish software users had the right to protest; instead we must adapt to loss.

How do I change Windows 10 default login to another account default log in

I have 3 different user logins for my Windows 10 PC. One is the default, one is administrator and the other is another named user. When I start up my
Windows 10 PC, the default user appears. My OneDrive Personal and OneDrive for Business are located in the default user PC login.

I want to change that default user login to the one of the other user accounts and move both OneDrive app(s), files and folders to the new default login when changed. How can I do this without losing files or folders in the OneDrives(s) AND with all hopes
allow all users access to the OneDrive?

    Thanks for help.

I don't think I've seen any protests among our users.

  6. Hi

Personally I log in with a private account and have One Drive turned off.

When it started telling me it was going to start automatically adding new files to the cloud I decided that I wanted to control what I upload. I suppose that there is a way to control it but it was easier to turn it off then to figure it out.

One of my reasons for reinstalling W10 was to get rid of One Drive and anything assoicated with it. I now have a local account, but I think this prevents me from making to comments to MS about the preview builds.

  9. Count me as one of those not happy with this change
I moved a lot of my data over to Onedrive due to how it worked in 8.1, in 10 currently its almost useless for me now

looking forward to seeing more changes between now and when 10 comes out

I'm definitely not happy with the changes to onedrive in the newest build. Personally, I liked being able to use the metro Onedrive app to see what was uploading, how fast it was uploading, etc. I didn't make use of the placeholder feature mentioned in the cited article, but it looked like something I would likely use in the future if/when I get a Windows tablet. Really, it just seems like a lot of options with onedrive have been removed. I know not everyone likes to use Onedrive, but why take the options away from us that do like to use it?

HG was not too happy about the changes to Onedrive. Not exactly, although it took me awhile to understand OneDrive > Now a change. I'm not happy as I can't use the Modern app that's forcing me to use File Explorer instead. As of yet anyway. The only way to access the app is Settings > Change PC settings > OneDrive > "See my files on OneDrive":

That shot above says "Some settings are managed....." MS is now our Admin and has blocked use of it for now:

Can still access "This PC" in the app:

This is an Admin account signing into my PC with an MS/Live account, but says to sign in within Charms > Options:

Right clicking on a OneDrive child folder in File Explorer has option "More OneDrive sharing options" or "View in OneDrive.com" opens OneDrive.com. Notice that they've added "PCs", although my 8.1 PC or Lumia WP8.1 has not been added. I think ultimately this is what it will end up being > All "MS account devices" will be listed. Not sure, though. My TonysWTP drive partition as I named is. It shows all drives whether they are online or not. Exterior drives, thumbs, etc.

All in all, I don't think they couldn't or didn't think this far ahead when creating OneDrive especially including it within OS file systems. They will refine it eventually. Remember > It's about "Devices and Services". Having 3 devices with OneDrive on them myself is getting somewhat a little overwhelming, although the Lumia doesn't have a file system > yet. Some day it may. It's getting quite sophisticated.

I guess it all started when some users didn't understand "placeholders/smart files", which is where one wants to store the hard copy of a file. In 8.1 OneDrive folders viewed with "Details" shows a "Availability" column, but 10 does not. Don't know why.

My opinion is it’s not over 'till it’s over. We are beta testing, there are still changes to be made. I wasn't unhappy with the change to OneDrive but what the heck, its beta time. What I was able to do is move/change things that were to my liking so that I could use/not use OneDrive.

Let’s see what happens in the next build. Produce more feedback to MS on what you don’t want and praise the good. We have a chance to change something.

Good thoughts!! I have to totally agree with these points.
More feedback is the best way to get changes done. At least IMO.

I did - OneDrive context menu in build 9879

It is much less usable now compared to previous build (or 8.1). It is laborious to choose what folders you want to sync and impossible to select individual files to be online only or not.

I did leave feedback of course *Smile
