Windows 10: The 20H2 update always fails, can I solve it or mark it not to retry?

Over the last few months, it has failed twice thru auto update, and also once when I tried the manual update (Windows10Upgrade9252.exe).

It always fails the same way on this particular PC (Asrock H270M-ITX/ac, i5-7600, Corsair LPX 2400MHz, Asus GTX1060 3GB Turbo). I allow the nvidia driver to update too. I have no anti-virus programs besides what MS provides with Win10.

The way it fails is that the PC becomes stuck mid-way thru the update (after seeing the warning that "your pc may restart a few times"), display will be blank and the fan noise will ramp up and down. I have left it in that state for more than an hour. It would only respond to long-press the power button, to switch off, then switch on. Then I would see the CMOS screen, and I would not make any changes, then I would see Windows say it is trying to recover, then there will be a BSOD about "memory management", then I would need to long-press the power button again, then switch on. Then it's the CMOS screen again. Again no changes. Then I see Windows trying to restore previous, then I get a normal boot up. In Settings, I can see the update history logging the failures, like this:

But Windows Update would appear as if there are no updates to do, until a few days later when the 20H2 will come back into the queue.

systeminfo says:

OS Name: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro

OS Version: 10.0.18363 N/A Build 18363
​

Wikipedia tells me 18363 = 1909 = 19H2.

Help please.

Successful updates retries and fails

KB4020102 was updated successfully on 26/5/2017. I usually have metered wifi. Today I connected to ethernet. Same KB is trying again and again. Now it hangs. Please see pics below.

When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.
