Windows 10: The 38 Product Code Install/Uninstall

When encountering problems uninstalling older versions of software and some unwanted lads eating up space, such as the Autodesk genuine Software which is quite annoying, the Windows Program Install and Uninstall Troubleshooter is the man to go. However, when you can't find the culprit there is an option to go -> next.Then there is the need for the 38 Product Code, which I googled and everyone seems to think that is the product key and bunch of other things. I only found 3 articles on it so it must be a minor problem though. I wished someone told me it was the CLSID. That bastard 38 product

I ran the troubleshooter for uninstalling a program that isn't listed in Windows 10 apps list that is described at Fix problems that block programs from being installed or removed

The troubleshooter asks for a 38-character product code.

To find the code, I tried running this command in a command prompt and an administrative command prompt:

Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_Product

That was not recognized as a command. Next, in Powershell, I ran
Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_Product. I got a list of installed apps with 38-character codes, but the one that I want to uninstall was not on the list.

What should I try next?

I understand that you are receiving an error Code 38 for USB mass storage device. I’ll certainly help you with the issue.



The error code 38 states that Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory. It is caused because the driver could not be loaded because a previous instance is still loaded.

I would suggest you to refer the troubleshooting steps mentioned below:



Method 1: Reboot your computer



The simplest way would be to reboot your computer and check if that helps.



Method 2: Rollback the driver



If the issue persists, I would suggest you to try rollback the driver and check. Refer the steps mentioned below:

1. Press and hold the Windows key + X, and select
   Device manager.
   
2. In Device manager, expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
   
3. Right click on USB Mass Storage device and select
   Properties.
   
4. Navigate to the Driver tab and click on
   Roll Back Driver.
   
5. Restart the computer.
   

Method 3: Reinstalling the driver



If the issue persists, I would suggest you to try reinstalling the driver and check. Refer the steps mentioned below:

1. Press and hold the Windows key + X, and select
   Device manager.
   
2. In Device manager, expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
   
3. Right click on the USB Mass Storage
   device and click on Uninstall.
   
4. Uncheck the box Delete the driver software for this device
   and click on OK.
   
5. Restart the computer.

How to Find 38-Digit Product Code?

Hi all,

I was looking for solution for how to delete remnants of an uninstalled application and found many people have same headache.

I downloaded a benchmarking app, called Sisisoftware Sandra, and wanted to uninstall it after I am done with it. I uninstall and delete everything related with that application but it still appears under the programs. I can not open it, delete it or else.
Explorer can not find it but it still appears weirdly.

Then came here and have seen that Microsoft has an official programme for installing and uninstaling. Many of us who encountered with this problem has the same question: Where can we find the product code? Some people had tried to help but nothing worked
actually. But later, I have found that 38-digit.. I wanted to let those people know my way but their topics(click
here to see) are locked. I couldn't send messages to them as well. So, I have decided to open a new topic and solve at least some of those people's headache. I have to let you know that the app did not work for me to delete the remnant but maybe some of
you can benefit of finding 38-digit product code.

Here you go:

1) Just press windows key and search the app that gives you headache.

2) If it appears, click on it. An error screen like this will come.





3) There are 2 series of numbers and plus there are not 38 digits if you count. But if you enter the the numbers with dash and "{ }" as it is shown, it will be accepted and it will lead you to next step. The app is accepting two of them, so try both of them
but not at the same time.

Once more, it did not solve my problem as I said, but I wanted to leave this here to help you to find 38-digit product key.
